Those who are able should work

A recent guest column by Roger Hines was precisely on target. Socialism allows certain members of society to shirk their individual responsibility.

The Plymouth Colony nearly failed from the weight of such an inequity. Fortunately, they restructured.

Workers, those who produce more than they consume, will not long abide a growing number of Takers, those who consume more than they produce.

Takers are not to be confused with those who are physically unable to produce. The handicapped, in earlier times and now, have been helped along by their family, their community and their church.

The shiftless, yet able bodied, who at every corner of life exist for assistance from the government, put us on a course of destruction as a free society. When someone with a gun (government) can force you to contribute (taxes) to assist the lazy and indolent, then the bottom of the hill is not far away.

The slogan should have been: “Workers of the World, Unite! Stand against those who would waste the fruits of your labor!”

And for the rest of the able bodied who falsely feel they are entitled to be coddled by our money, find work. Become responsible for your own existence.

Hines is wrong and so are you Bob. That "someone with a gun" you and other conservatives imagine is what the rest of us call a duly elected representative government exercising the will of the majority of the people.

Hines' problem and your problem isn't with socialism. It's with our form of government.

Who exactly are Bob and "Mixed splost votes for separate school systesm are fine with me but the Sunday Sales vote wasn't fine with me" Roger talking about here?

Is this Bible based and we are talking about women?

Or is this racist and we are talking about "those people"

Or is this nationalist and we are talking about "Illegals"

Or with “Workers of the World, Unite," are you a union guy talking about non union shops?

Oh wait.. "Shiftless." That gives it away, Bob! Thanks for the code word so nobody could miss your meaning.

We all got your meaning, my brother Bob, and by "brother" of course I mean "my brother under Christ Jesus our Lord and Savior Everlasting," not "yo' hey another black dude."
