Former WellStar CEO Bernie Brown poses with his new book ‘Road Signs on The Journey Home: Fifty-two Modern-Day Proverbs,’ at his home. Brown’s inspiration for this unique book idea came from what is usually categorized as an unpleasant encounter. Brown was stopped by a North Carolina State Trooper for speeding, and he was ridiculed for not paying enough attention to the road signs that are meant to serve as guidelines for drivers. This served as a learning experience for Brown, teaching him the importance of acknowledging the road signs put in place for a reason. <br> Courtesy of Bernie Brown

Traditional road and traffic signs have created a new sense of faith for author and former WellStar CEO Bernie Brown, who shares this faith in his book “Road Signs on the Journey Home: Fifty-Two Modern-Day Proverbs.”

Brown’s inspiration for this unique book idea came from what is usually categorized as an unpleasant encounter. Brown was stopped by a North Carolina State Trooper for speeding, and he was ridiculed for not paying enough attention to the road signs that are meant to serve as guidelines for drivers. This served as a learning experience for Brown, teaching him the importance of acknowledging the road signs that were put in place for a reason.

All of the devotions in the book feature a typical road sign that most people wouldn’t think twice about when driving on a day-to-day basis. From handicapped parking signs to pedestrian crossing signs, to school zone warnings to speed limits and everything in-between, Brown offers a new perspective on how much simpler life can be when you trust the signs encountered on the journey through life will lead you home.

“If we just slow down and observe, even something as seemingly mundane as a road sign can convey a powerful lesson,” Brown said.

The devotionals in the book have been highly praised by ministers who believe the book can make a difference in people’s lives. Brown said it’s more important now than it ever has been that people slow down, look around, and make the decision to follow and trust the signs on the busy roads we travel are leading them in the right direction.

“Road Signs on the Journey Home: Fifty-Two Modern-Day Proverbs” is available at bookstores and at www.inspiringvoices.com, www.purposeinthefourthquarter.com, and on Amazon.com.
