Stanley Adelman, 95, of Marietta, GA passed away on May 8, 2013. Born in New York, he became a Purple Heart recipient, while in Patton’s Third Army during WWII. He moved to Marietta in the 1950’s to work at Lockheed as a tool inspector. While there, he managed the JetStars Softball team and, as pitcher, helped lead them to several National Tournaments. Stanley also taught karate at GLERC for twenty years and was at one time recorded as being the oldest Black Belt in the state of Georgia. As an animal lover, he raised and showed Doberman Pinchers on the National level. In his later years, he was an avid golfer and could be seen at many of the local courses. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Dorothy Adelman, of Marietta, Georgia; daughter, Robin Adelman Walling, her husband, Greg Walling, and their two children, Josh and Meggie of Marietta; son, Frank Adelman, his wife, Marcia, and their two children, Sam and Max of Ohio. A memorial service will be held on June 10, 2013 at 11:30 AM at Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, GA. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests donations in Stanley’s name to Garden’s of Roswell, Memory Care Unit, 9212 Nesbit Ferry Road Alpharetta, GA 30022, where Stanley was lovingly cared for during his final years.
