This Labor Day weekend, go to the 27th annual Art in the Park festival in Glover Park in the historic Marietta Square for creative outdoor fun for the entire family. The free festival is Saturday through Monday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

Art in the Park showcases entertainment for all ages with a large Artist Market of more than 175 artists featuring fine works of arts and crafts, a Children’s Art Alley, Painted Pots, historic sites, nearby dining and more. A few activities require a small fee.

“At Art in the Park, you will find high-end art like jewelry, pottery, photography, painting, turned wood, sculpted metal and glass. All of the art is hand-crafted, and visitors also get the opportunity to talk with the artists on site. We also have plenty of free ‘make and take’ art stations for young artists,” said Carolyn Morris, festival director.

Marietta ChalkFest was introduced last year by Marietta/Cobb Museum of Art and returns as part of the festival on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Professional chalk artists will create mind-boggling images in large spaces of 10 square feet. Learn more at mariettachalkfest.com.

Since 2007, Art in the Park has been honored as a Southeast Tourism Society Top 20 Event. The festival is ranked 81st in the nation in the Classic and Contemporary Craft Shows by Sunshine Artist Magazine and has also earned awards from the Southeast Festivals and Events Association and the International Festivals & Events Association.

“Art in the Park has been a Labor Day tradition for 27 years,” Morris said.

Free parking is available on the street and in the Cobb County Parking Decks on Waddell Street.

Glover Park is at 50 N. Park Square, Marietta.
