“We are a geriatric care management practice,” said its founder, the Rev. Dr. Rick Carlton. He has been serving seniors since 1999 and said, “The fastest-growing segment of our population are seniors.”
Serving Seniors helps plan and arrange for care in keeping with seniors’ goals for life. Whether an elderly person needs personal home care, assisted living, nursing care, health care surrogacy, business support or other options, Serving Seniors guides families and seniors quickly and efficiently to appropriate resources.
Carlton’s passion for seniors and their caregivers stems from his career as a pastor and a volunteer Hospice chaplain. The Lutheran minister of 30 years said, “There are a variety of services for senior citizens. We’re able to help the senior or the senior’s family know which one offers a good value and to save time and money.”
Serving Seniors completes a professional in-home evaluation and provides a written care plan for the senior to continue living a quality life in a cost-effective way. Services suggested may include anything from in-home care, personal business support to medical care provided by the family or contracted with Serving Seniors. The service also works with different professionals in the area such as attorneys and financial planners to meet seniors’ needs.
Other support services offered include making medical appointments; providing transportation to appointments; communicating with medical personnel to understand the health care plan; and arranging for pickup and dispensing of medicine.
“I am in tune to the client,” the Rev. Carlton said. “We are interested in helping seniors get a quality of life and independence. I try to determine what the senior wants. I do what a loving adult child would do for their parent.”
