Freddie Bates
Freddie Lee Bates, 41, of Austell, was arrested Tuesday by Cobb County Police on charges of felony rape, incest, aggravated sexual battery, two counts of aggravated child molestation and child molestation. He remains in the Cobb County Jail without bond.
According to the warrant, Bates is accused of committing the crimes at residences in Marietta and Kennesaw between Aug. 10, 2006, and Aug. 10, 2009.
The victim, who is identified only as a child under 16 living in his home, told police that Bates had sex with her and committed “acts of sodomy.”
Sgt. Dana Pierce with Cobb Police said the case was a “sensitive matter” and the investigation is ongoing, therefore he could not comment further.
Cobb Schools spokesman Jay Dillon said Bates has been a bus driver with the district since 2011. He would not say what route Bates drove but said the charges do not involve his job or students.
It is unclear if Bates has been fired from the district.

While I don't blame CCSD because he had no prior issues it is their responsibility to notify and assure parents of this so we can make informed decisions regarding our children's safety AND to protect our children from these predators.
