Forrestella Taylor was named the new principal of Marietta Middle School by the Marietta school board Friday morning.

Taylor’s previous position in the school district was as the ninth-grade assistant principal at Marietta High School.

The announcement comes after 12-year middle school principal Tim Jones resigned to take a position as the principal of B.E.S.T. (Business, Engineering, Science and Technology) Academy High School, an all-boy school in Atlanta, off Hollowell Parkway. Jones has worked in the Marietta school district since 2001.
