Lots of memories were tossed about at a birthday luncheon for Jean Somerlot on Feb. 23, hosted by Barbara and J.W. Taylor at their Powder Springs home. Attending were Pellie and Dr. James Manning, Connie and Dr. Eugene Harley and Somerlot’s daughter, Karen Raymer of Marietta.
A lovely birthday cake, prepared by Taylor’s daughter, Melanie Sundquist, was in the form of a piano. The menu, prepared by Taylor, included recipes given to her by the late Lilian Sullivan, who was Manning, Harley and Taylor’s voice teacher, accompanied by Somerlot. After Sullivan died, the group continued singing together, accompanied by Somerlot. They have been singing together since the 1960s, bound together by their love of music. ***
