EDITOR’S NOTE: Below is a selection of the responses from readers of in reaction to recent MDJ stories.

Harrison High football coach resigns amid allegations of improper conduct with female teachers …

Old Marietta — All the Hoya people need to remember this guy was hired as a result of a “national search” and was trusted to restore the football program to prominence. How has that worked out for you? I am sure he was an inspiration to your children, not to mention your women.

This is sad — Old Marietta, I am sure the question about his tendencies to sexually harass women did not come up in his interview. What happened is very sad and sick. Yet again the boys participating in the program are the ones that suffer, as well as, the whole Cobb community. Why you had to make such a sick comment is also sad. Do you feel better now? Did you get your spitefulness off your chest?

NYC7980 — I don’t believe this for one second! I played football at Lassiter in the mid to late ’90s for Coach Galbraith. There is no way this happened. Not buying it.

Should’ve been asked — I’m sad Harrison lost another coach but how does somebody his age suddenly become a sexual harasser? Surely his references were checked and almost as surely, this cute little bit of his personality was swept under the rug.

Daddyball — That’s just Harrison, they think they’re better than everyone else so they had to do “national search” rather than a “local search.“ There are plenty of very qualified assistant coaches in and around the area that could get Harrison back where it needs to be. Nobody cares that you got a “NFL” guy or did a “national search.“

Roswell Street Baptist plans to pack city council meeting over widening plans …

Watcher — Stop the “City Gateway” madness. Most taxpayers do NOT support lavish government spending on gateways. Money is very tight! Yet Marietta and Smyrna plunge forward to create unnecessary Gateways. Go Roswell Street!

Devlin Adams — Let’s see now, in 2008, they wanted $1.6 million, but now they are willing to settled for less than a third of that. They wanted four times what the property was appraised at. Sounds like a fine example of “Christ Centered” profiteering. What a coup that would have been for the Lord. Sounds like the Revs. Crooks, Easley, etc, need to spend less time at the negotiating table and more time on their knees. I would be willing to bet that this “demonstration” at the City Council meeting was dreamed up and planned by none other than Rev. Crooks.

Keep fighting — Go Roswell Street! Not a member, but totally support your efforts!!!!

No, seriously — Maybe they should be paid what they have paid in taxes for the past 50 years.

Come On — You joke, but you don’t understand the charity the church has made for the community. They host several large events for the schools each year where they don’t profit. They also provide food and assistance to the less fortunate in the local community so those people are not dependent on government assistance. That is just a couple of examples of how they help the community.

@come on — They also apparently provide a salary to John Crooks who has mocked the citizens and ripped them off of needed school funds to pay his legal fees.

Judge unseals documents in Waffle House CEO sex suit …

Sigmund — Obviously, this sexual relationship was consensual. Brindle could have gotten another job, and she could have refused to come to the home of Rogers, rather than continuing for nine years in a role she considered “subservient” and unwanted. If she continued to receive pay from Rogers in return for providing illicit sex, she was engaging in prostitution. Now she wants to make even more money out of him by having him pay damages. Indeed this is an attempt at extortion. I hope the judge does not become complicit.

Leslielaw — Please don’t pass judgment until all of the facts are out. There is more to this story than anyone knows.
