Curtain Falls on Theatre in the Square …

Greg Kaiser — I have to add my agreement to the previous comments concerning the recent remodeling of the theater. Hideous does not even begin to describe what they did to that building. They took a wonderful little landmark on Marietta Square and turned it into a white plastic-looking abomination, complete with flashing marquee and giant tragedy and comedy masks looming overhead. It now stands out like a sore thumb on the Square, and now that it is going to sit empty, it will be even worse.

The Theater in the — Square Swansong was the best “Staged” performance they’ve ever produced. Bravo to the board!

What the — These spaces should be occupied by something Cobb Countians could understand! How about a “Museum of Conservatism”? It could feature the anti-gay resolutions that got the county kicked out of the Olympics, Gordon Wysong’s “Sacred Art of Russia” t-shirts, school text books with evolution disclaimer stickers, a collection of Newt Gingrich’s marriage certificates, Ten Commandment monuments removed from government buildings and a life-sized statue of Ronald Reagan.

Marietta man — Who let them put up that hideous front on the building? They didn’t get my business after that. It has no business being there destroying the integrity of the Square.

TIC — Instead of traditional, locally acceptable subject matter, many of the productions dealt with edgy, somewhat controversial social issues that suited the the owners but not the customers. That might work just fine in Little Five Points, Virginia Highland or Midtown, just not in Marietta. Know your market!! It’s fine to be creative and thought provoking, but not at the expense of financial viability. That’s just dumb!

Retailers Fret Possible Sunday Alcohol Delay …

eCobb Family — Liquor sellers are purveyors of human misery. Alcohol kills. Why should these people be afforded any special treatment under the law?

Preacher Billy Bob — Religion has brought more misery, suffering, persecution and death to humanity than any other movement perhaps even more than Communism. Please pound “your” Bible on another corner.

OMGZCJO — This isn’t a county-wide issue. It’s an UNINCORPORATED Cobb issue. If they made unincorporated Cobb into a city called (wait for it) “City of Cobb Unincorporated,“ would it clear it up for you? Sample ballots are available prior to elections. If you don’t like what’s on them, you complain PRIOR to the election, not after the outcome you didn’t like was reached. Roger Hines should be put in jail for attempted election fraud!

SG68 — Think this through. If there were no cities in the county then Tim Lee would be in charge. I think that could be characterized as “Out of the frying pan and into the fire.”

Melo P — More racism against African-Americans by the white people who run the school system — it never ends around here. If she had been white, no charges would have been brought.

Mrs. Colorblind — Melo P, what does race have to do with this?? I guess when you are unable to bring forth a compelling argument, uneducated fools, like yourself, just cry racism!! I happen to be a person of mixed race who believes that the race card does more to divide than unite us. Stop making excuses!
