Dewey Glenn Robinson, Sr. passed away on January 23, 2014. He was known as Dewey to his many friends and co-workers and as Papa, Dad, Glenn and Uncle Glenn by his loving family. Dewey was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Martha K. Robinson. He is survived by his children, Dewey G. Robinson, Jr., David and Bonnie Robinson and Hazel and Robert Mulkey, 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Dewey was born on April 12, 1923 in Porterdale, GA to his father, James Elton Robinson and mother, Lizzie Lee Rooks Robinson. Dewey resided in Smyrna for many years before retiring to Blairsville. In Smyrna, he was a deacon in Green Acres Baptist Church and more recently was a member of the First Baptist Church of Blairsville. Dewey was a U.S. Army veteran and served in Europe during WWII. Dewey retired from the Atlanta Coca-Cola Bottling Company after 51 years of service and proud to be a “Coca-Cola Man”. He enjoyed fishing with his children and buddies and was an avid gardener. Most of all, he was a family man who was always there for his wife, children, brothers, sisters and extended family. Funeral Services will be held at Carmichael Funeral Homes, 2950 King St., Smyrna, GA on Sunday, January 26th at 2:00PM; burial will follow at Georgia Memorial Park in Smyrna. Visitation with the family will be at Carmichael’s on Sunday from 12:00PM to 1:30PM. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest that donations be made in Dewey Robinson’s memory to: Alzheimer’s Association, Georgia Chapter, 41 Perimeter Center East, Suite 550, Atlanta, GA 30346.
