Mrs. Marjorie Wood Ravan, 86, a long-time resident of Marietta, GA, passed away peacefully March 12, 2013. She was born in Newnan, GA, January 29, 1927 to the late Mr. Wylie Wood and the late Mrs. Katie Houston Wood. She was a nurse and dental hygienist in Marietta before marrying the late Judge Howell C. Ravan. Margie was involved in many community organizations from the Cobb County Bar Auxiliary to Marietta Junior League holding officer positions. She was truly the epitome of a “Southern Lady” in her charm and sweet disposition. Many lives were touched in her 86 years. She is survived by her daughters, Melissa Spetnagel, Leah Bell and her husband Dean, and Mary Ravan, her grandchildren, Lark Honrine and her husband Tommy, Justin Hylton, Jason Hylton and his wife Mindy, Sarah Ligon and her husband Conley, and Jessica Dobson, along with her great-grandson Whit Dobson. In addition to being predeceased by her parents, she is predeceased by her brother Larry Wood and sister Brenda Wood Allen. Family will be receiving visitors at Mayes Ward Funeral Home in Marietta Friday, March 15 6:00-8:00 and a graveside service will be at 11:00 am Saturday, March 16 at Mountain View Cemetery.
