MARIETTA — The first of two memorial celebrations honoring late Cobb Police Officer Robert James Ingram will be at 7 p.m. tonight at the Cobb County Department of Public Safety Training Center at 2109 Valor Drive in Marietta.

Ingram was shot and killed near the intersection of Marble Mill Road and Marr Avenue in Marietta on July 12, 1993, while investigating a suspicious person, according to Sgt. Dana Pierce with Cobb Police.

Because this Saturday marks the 20th anniversary of his death, Ingram’s family is honoring his life with two planned memorial celebrations.

In addition to tonight’s memorial, the family meets every July 13th at 12:30 a.m. at the site of his death to share in the lighting of candles in Ingram’s honor at exactly 12:40 a.m.

The public is invited to join Ingram’s family and members of the Cobb Police Department to honor Ingram.
