Prep Roundup: Harrison blanks South Forsyth

Andrew Patrick gave up two hits, struck out five and didn’t allow a run over five innings to lead Harrison to a 4-0 win Friday at South Forsyth.

Cole Austin batted 2-for-4 with two doubles for the Hoyas (4-1), who iced the game with two runs in the seventh.

Tanner Weeks had an RBI single in the second, and Hunter Fortner added an RBI double in the fifth. Jason Cook’s RBI fielder’s choice in the seventh extended the margin.

Harrison will host Cherokee today.

Dominion Christian 14, Westminster Christian 4 (5 inn): The Knights scored in every inning, and a six-run fourth helped ice the game.

Luke Lewellan was 2-for-2 with two RBIs, one of a solo home run in the third inning.

C.J. Copeland pitched four innings to get the win and gave up two hits.


Marietta 4, Kennesaw Mountain 2:
Bryan Camarena scored twice as the Blue Devils broke into the win column with the Region 4AAAAAA victory.

Sam Borgel and Will Nelson also scored, while Borgel contributed a pair of assists.

Salvador Hernadez made six saves for Marietta (1-5, 1-1), which will travel to North Cobb on Monday.

Walton 5, Cherokee 0: Christian Lucas scored two goals and added an assist as the Raiders rolled to a Region 5AAAAAA victory.

Chris Jensen and Peiji Liang each had a goal and an assist, and Noah Langub finished with a goal.

Michael Jurick made eight saves in goal and combined with Jeffrey Lu for the shutout for Walton (9-0, 2-0), which will travel to Chattahoochee on Tuesday.

Allatoona 4, Hiram 0: Allatoona recorded its fifth straight shutout to start the season and picked up the Region 5AAAAA home win.

The Buccaneers (5-0, 3-0) led 4-0 at halftime.

Darnell Oliver netted two goals, while Gavin McCook had a goal and an assist. Hunter Baird and Will Smith each scored. Camden Bay had one assist.

Marcos Castillo collected three saves for Allatoona, which will be at Woodland-Bartow on Tuesday.

Hillgrove 3, Pebblebrook 2: Chielo Mbaezue scored two goals for Hillgrove, and Mo Jallow’s penalty kick with 2 minutes left sealed the Region 4AAAAAA win for the Hawks.

Jallow and Reed Hall were credited with assists.

Eduardo Garcia scored both goals for Pebblebrook, which had a 1-0 lead at the half.

Gabriel Vasquez assisted one of Garcia’s goals. Osman Perez had six saves at goal for the Falcons (0-1-2, 0-1).

Hillgrove will travel to Hillgrove on Tuesday, while Pebblebrook will host South Cobb.

Pope 1, Riverwood 0: The Greyhounds scored 5 minutes into the second half and held on for the Region 7AAAAA victory.

Matt Laferle accounted for Pope’s only goal on a cross from Tai Livnat.

Pope withstood five shots on goal by Riverwood and Travis Parker finished with four saves.

Pope (6-2, 3-0) will host Osborne on Tuesday.

Harrison 1, Campbell 0: Nathan Kaminski got Harrison’s only goal on a penalty kick 20 minutes into the first half to edge the Spartans in a Region 4AAAAAA goal.

Campbell’s pressed hard in the second half but Harrison stood its ground. The Spartans took six shots with three on goal.

Grayson Guertin had four saves for Harrison (3-3-1, 1-0), which will host Hillgrove on Tuesday.


Harrison 6, Campbell 0:
Treva Aycock had a hat trick as the Lady Hoyas dominated the Region 4AAAAAA road game.

Harrison (6-0, 1-0) got the bulk of its scoring out of the way early, scoring five goals before halftime.

Audrey Tanner, Carly Rich and Jillian Bresko also scored, while Tanner had two assists and Aycock one. Melissa Cameron and Jordan Henghold had assists as well.

Allison Leone and Kelsey Daugherty combined to record the shutout for Harrison, which will host Hillgrove on Monday.

Allatoona 10, Hiram 0: Annaleise Wittenmeyer scored three goals and added two assists to help lead the Lady Buccaneers to a dominating Region 5AAAAA victory.

Willough Davis added four goals and an assist, Ash Das finished with two goals and two assists and Caroline Golec added the final goal. Jazmine Cruz recorded four assists.

Allatoona (5-1-1) will host Woodland-Bartow on Tuesday.

Kell 2, Creekview 1: Ansley Hames assisted on Valerie Fernandez’s game-winning goal in the 52nd minute to give Kell the Region 7AAAAA home victory.

Courtney Hendrickson scored in the first half for the Lady Longhorns (3-2-1, 2-1), who were tied 1-all at halftime.

Savannah Corr had six saves for Kell, which will be at Riverwood on Tuesday.

Walton 8, Cherokee 1: Leigh Purinton had five goals — three on headers — and added an assist in the Region 5AAAAAA win.

The Lady Raiders (4-2-1, 2-0) led 3-0 at the half.

Erica Langhorn added a goal, while Madie Wellstead had two goals and an assist. Leigh Amerein had three assists, and Kristen Loughran and Lucy Sanders both added one.

Peyton Ryan and Dani Marine both split time at goal and combined for five saves for Walton, which will host North Paulding on Tuesday.


Walton 14, Wheeler 2:
Michael Gernatt had a hand in seven of Walton’s first eight goals in its Area 2AAAAAA opener, finishing with a goal and six assists as

The Raiders jumped out to an 8-0 halftime lead.

Nick Sposito and Ryan Roegge each had two goals and one assist for Walton (5-1, 1-0) and Josh Peretz added one goal and two assists.

Anthony Estevez and Zach Campbell scored Wheeler’s goals.

Harrison 12, McIntosh 5: Lucas Wittenberg had three goals and four assists to lead Harrison.

Artie Lewis also had three goals and Zach Danneman had two goals and an assist. Alex Mowry also had two goals on the game, and Michael Fahsel and Erik Holst had one goal each. Seth Collins came away with two assists.

Brandon Galgon won 14 faceoffs for the Hoyas (6-0), who will play at East Coweta next in an Area 1AAAAAA game.


Allatoona 19, Tri-Cities 5:
Bailey Wilson scored six goals to lead the Lady Buccaneers to a non-area victory.

Katie McNutt scored five goals and Lexi Downing had 15 saves in goal as Allatoona (1-3) recorded its first victory of the season.

The Lady Buccaneers will travel to Carrollton on Monday.

Kennesaw Mountain 24, East Coweta 2: Nine different players scored goals for Kennesaw Mountain, which won its Area 1AAAAAA opener at home.

Abbi Barnett led the Lady Mustangs (3-3, 1-0) with six goals and two assists. Megan Dreyer had four goals and five assists, while Amanda Griffin added two goals and five assists. Caroline Dyar contributed three goals. Five other players each had two scores.

Monica Hicks faced three shots and had one save for Kennesaw Mountain, which led 13-1 at halftime.

The Lady Mustangs will travel to Tri-Cities on Thursday for another area game.
