Treva Aycock and Savannah Vanderbeck scored a pair of second-half goals Friday, lifting Harrison to a 2-0 win over Lassiter in the quarterfinal round of the Class AAAAAA state playoffs at Cobleigh Stadium.

The game was scoreless before the Lady Hoyas (18-1) broke through, first on Aycock’s goal.

Hannah Ostman and Carly Rich had assists on the goals.

Allison Leone saved all four shots she faced, leading top-seeded Harrison into Tuesday’s semifinal, in which it will host Region 8AAAAAA runner-up Brookwood. The teams scrimmaged against one another Feb. 5, with the Lady Hoyas losing 2-0.

Lassiter closed its season with a 14-4-1 record, suffering just its second loss since mid-February.

Whitewater 12, Allatoona 2: The Lady Buccaneers were outplayed in the Class AAAAA state quarterfinal.

Last year’s Class AAA state champion, with a lineup that included five freshman starters, couldn’t match up with Whitewater defensively.

Willough Davis scored Allatoona’s first goal on a pass from Suzanne Arafa in the 22nd minute to cut the lead after Whitewater had already scored four goals. Aleiya Armstrong capitalized on an Arafa pass in the second half, but the game was out of reach with Whitewater already leading 8-2.

Allatoona ended its season with a 13-6-1 record.
