Though held to just two hits, Allatoona was able to beat Lassiter 3-0 on Wednesday, a game in which both pitchers flirted with no-hitters.

Though they scored twice in the first inning, the Lady Buccaneers (2-1) didn’t get their first hit until Hailey Reagor’s RBI single off Lassiter’s Brianna Michaud with two outs in the sixth.

Michaud struck out five over her seven innings.

Meanwhile, Allatoona’s Makenzie Colwart only allowed one baserunner, Andrea Summey’s bunt single in the first inning. Colwart struck out four in a complete game of her own.

Morgan Kazerooni had a sacrifice fly, and Elisabeth Federici doubled for Allatoona, which will travel Monday to North Cobb.

Lassiter (0-1) will travel to Marist today.

Sprayberry 18, Walton 2 (3 inn.): Charlie Smith hit a first-inning grand slam, and Kierston Moore added a solo home run in the second to help lead the Lady Yellow Jackets to a victory.

Smith scored twice, while Moore, who was 2-for-2, came home four times for Sprayberry (2-3), which also saw Kerstyn Murray and Lexie Thrasher each collect two RBIs.

Sydney Segers batted 2-for-3 with an RBI and a stolen base for Pope (5-1), which saw Lindsey Walsh (4-1) post a one-hit shutout while striking out five and walking four.

Pope will be at Cherokee on Tuesday.

Whitefield Academy 4, Galloway 2: Hannah Brown struck out 15, and the Lady Wolfpack won their season-opening game.

Offensively, Whitefield (1-0) had a 4-0 lead through five innings, before letting Galloway get on the scoreboard.
