The Polk Street Players Board has decided to close after 35 years of continuous theater to the community and to St. James’ Church. Let’s say “good-bye” to an old friend as it takes its final curtain.
On July 8, the Book Exchange at 2932 Canton Road, Marietta 30066 hosted a Happy Hour event where guests could meet authors Karen White and Jenna Blum (Grand Central: Original Stories of Postwar Love and Reunion), Wendy Wax (The House on Mermaid Point) and Erika Marks (It Comes in Waves). Among the attendees were owner Cathy Blanco, along with Donna Ahrndt, Barbra Bowers, Tiffany DeBrock, Rick Fogel, Ana Raquel, Carmen Slaughter and Wanda Patterson.

Oct. 11-12, Marietta Cobb Museum of Art presents ChalkFest, its annual chalk art festival around the Marietta Square, Atlanta Street and in front of MCMA. In addition to professional artists, artists of all ages are invited to participate in the juried chalk competition Saturday Oct. 11.
