At 1:10 a.m. Sunday morning, Cobb Police entered the home of Shane Woody and Melissa Hance, north of Terrill Mill Road and west of Powers Ferry Road.
According to the warrant, Hance attempted to block an officer from accessing the stairs inside, forcing officers to move and restrain her.
Cobb Police found Woody concealed under a mattress, the warrant stated.
“(Hance) did state that she informed (Woody) of police presence, fearing he would be accused of assaulting her,” the warrant said.
Hance’s mug shot from the arrest report shows her with a black eye and several other bruises on the face and neck.
In the home, Cobb Police say trash, clothing and other items were “strewn about” over most of the floor.
“Unsealed liquor bottles and beer cans were observed in every room of the home … no edible food was found inside the home,” the warrant said. “Knives were observed sticking into a family room wall and also in a bedroom wall where (a child and Hance) slept.”
Woody was arrested on charges of aggravated assault, battery and cruelty to children. He was given a $50,000 bond, but remains in the Cobb jail.
Hance was arrested on charges of willful obstruction and contributing to the deprivation of a minor. She was given a $1,500 bond and released the same day.
