POWDER SPRINGS — A Powder Springs woman is accused of shooting a 13-year-old boy in the eye with a BB gun, and the victim is in danger of losing his sight, police say.

Jassille Burroughs, 17, is charged with aggravated assault and aggravated battery after Powder Springs police say she shot the boy Thursday evening.

Burroughs told authorities the shooting outside her home on Mistymorn Way was an accident, but witnesses say she “made an overt movement to point and fire the BB gun at the victim,” according to the arrest warrant.

The boy, whose name was not released, was initially treated at Wellstar Cobb Hospital before being transferred to Egleston Hospital in Atlanta for surgery.

After her arrest Thursday, Burroughs was released three days later from the Cobb County jailon $25,000 bond.
