Cobb Police arrested a man and a woman they say led officers on a dangerous high-speed chase down Interstate 285 in southeast Cobb County.

Police say Michael Lamar Smith and Shankeyvious Lildaja Johnson, both of Atlanta, were arrested following the chase, which happened during rush hour March 27.

According to the arrest warrant, Smith drove up to 90 miles per hour in a 55 mph zone, changed lanes recklessly, passed cars in the emergency lane and hit a van without stopping, all while driving without a license and fleeing from police. Police say he has been denied bond on charges of driving with no brake lights, fleeing and eluding, improper passing, reckless driving, hit and run, child restraint violation, improper lane change, driving with no license and driving in the gore.

Police say Johnson gave police a false name after the chase was over to try to hide her involvement in the chase when she was found close to the car. Police say Johnson also had an active warrant for her arrest in Douglas County. Johnson was released on $2,500 bond.
