Cobb Police arrested a man Friday on shoplifting charges, which led to a major drug bust.

Police say Mitchell Strickland stole a Dewalt Chisel and a saw blade from The Home Depot on Roswell Road. When stopped by a Home Depot employee, police say Strickland stabbed and sliced the employee with the stolen blade eight times and then ran from the store to the Chili’s restaurant located in the same shopping center.

Police say Strickland then attempted to run away from the authorities. When he was arrested, police said they found suspected hydrocodone, methamphetamine and methadone in his possession. According to police, Strickland is being charged with aggravated assault, willful obstruction of an officer, theft by shoplifting and the unlawful possession of prescription drugs. Strickland remains in custody at the Cobb County jail.
