At 7:41 a.m. Tuesday, an Acworth resident called Cobb police after hearing gunshots in a neighbor’s home. Five people attempted to break into a home on Double Tree Drive, off of Hamby Road in Acworth and were arrested shortly after, said Dana Pierce, a spokesman for Cobb County Police.

Residents of the home fought off the invaders, and injured two of them, Pierce said.

As of Tuesday afternoon, one of the suspects was injured and in a nearby hospital. Another had been injured and released from the hospital and was in police custody. Two suspects were caught by police at the home Tuesday morning, and another was tracked down by officers in a nearby neighborhood, Pierce said. Some of the people in the home were injured, but none were sent to the hospital, police say.

A nearby Cobb County school called police to inquire about the incident, but did not go into lockdown, Pierce said.
