ACWORTH — According to Acworth Police, Mark Christopher Smalls, the father of a 4-year-old Acworth girl, left her unattended at Cauble Park for almost 3 hours Feb. 9.

Cauble Park is off Dallas Street, east of Highway 92 on the shores of Lake Acworth, which is about six miles from the child’s home off Glade Road.

According to the warrant, the girl was left alone at the park at 5:45 p.m. and the child was not discovered missing until 7 p.m.

Smalls was arrested the following day by Acworth Police, and was released the same day on a bond of $1,000.

According to warrant, the Division of Family and Children Services informed the police officers the Smalls family had prior issues related to supervision of this child.

The arrest report states Smalls lives off of Plantation Way in Kennesaw, which is not the same address given for the mother, Michelle Smalls, who lives off Glade Road in Acworth.

According to Acworth Police Captain Mark Cheatham, Michelle Smalls was also charged with one count of reckless conduct in this case.
