WINDER, Ga. (AP) — Twin brothers are in custody after investigators unearthed a body that was placed in a plastic container, encased in concrete and buried in the yard of a northeast Georgia home, authorities said.

The remains are believed to be those of a man reported missing from Pensacola, Fla. about a month ago, Winder Police Chief Dennis Dorsey told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Police say the 31-year-old twins — who previously lived in Pensacola — were both charged with concealing a death. It wasn’t immediately known whether they have attorneys.

The Georgia investigation began after police in the northwest Florida city contacted Winder authorities about a missing person, Winder police said in a statement Tuesday.

Police say the twins had told friends they were moving to Georgia, and their friend who is now missing was coming along. However, the friend wasn’t with them when the twins arrived at their father’s residence about three weeks ago, police said.

They also told their father that their friend’s dog had died, and they planned to bury the animal in the backyard of the home on Sixth Avenue.

"They claimed they buried the dog," Dorsey told the Journal-Constitution.

But police obtained a search warrant and found the human remains Monday in the yard, authorities said. Winder is about 45 miles northeast of Atlanta.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is assisting in the probe, the statement said.
