MARIETTA — A Marietta man was arrested by Marietta Police in a condominium inside the Covered Bridge Condos off Powers Ferry Road on Feb. 11 on rape charges.

According to police, Lemon McMickens, 25, used a handgun Feb. 1 to force a 19-year-old girl behind a building in the 800 block of Franklin Road to rape her and steal her bag.

When police arrested McMickens on Tuesday, they said in a press release that he was found in possession of stolen electronics, a firearm and felony narcotics. He is facing kidnapping, aggravated assault and armed robbery charges, in addition to the rape charges, police said.

The release said McMickens was arrested along with five other people, who were taken into custody on felony drug possession charges.

Investigations into McMickens and the five arrested with him are underway, and police ask anyone with information on them to contact Detective Shane Merritt at (770) 794-5324 or the Marietta Police Anonymous Tip Line at (770) 794-6990.
