MARIETTA - A Milton woman has been arrested in an overnight hit-and-run that left a bicyclist in critical condition in Marietta just after midnight Friday.

Judy Mae Petrovsky, 67, was drunk when she struck Cobb resident Thomas Ringle at 12:25 a.m. on Roswell Street near Aviation Street, not far from the Big Chicken, Marietta Detective Gwen Lewis said. A Cobb County Police officer who witnessed the accident tended to the victim and called Marietta Police, Lewis said.

Petrovsky did not stop at the scene, but rather drove home to Milton, about 20 miles away, police said. A family member drove Petrovsky to the Alpharetta Police Department to turn herself in, according to police.

Alpharetta Police went to Petrovsky's home, inspected the car and notified Marietta Police, who later arrested her, Lewis said.

Petrovsky was arrested on charges of DUI and felony hit and run. She was released Friday from the Cobb County Jail on a $10,000 bond.

Ringle remains in the Intensive Care Unit at Kennestone Hospital.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Officer Justin Rutland at (770) 794-5364.

Don't drink and drive. Don't ride your bicycle in the middle of the night. I doubt I could see a bicyclist in the pitch dark. If I can't see you then there is no way I can stay 3 feet from your peddling butt. The law should be changed to keep bicyclists off the road at night.

Is it just me or does this woman not look even close to 67 years old?
