Need help? There is hope. 10 Women of HOPE provides assistance to single moms who are experiencing an essential financial emergency. On Oct. 18, celebrate the gift of girlfriends with shopping, socializing and fun at the 5th Annual Girls’ Night Out from 5 to 8 p.m. at The Brickyard at Marietta Station, 129 Church St.

“The evening is dedicated to raising money for our deserving moms. We are a small organization and have almost no overhead expenses, so the evening is all about giving back to women who need a hand up. It’s about giving hope,” said Laurel Kovach, 1 of the 10 women.

A minimum donation at event of $25 benefits 10 Women of Hope, a 501 (c)(3) organization and includes light dinner fare provided by Carriage House Catering, beer, wine and soft drinks. To date, 10 Women have helped 178 single moms and raised $115,000. The group was created in October 2007 when Patsy Bryan met with Penny Warren and Carla Brown.

“We want to be different from other nonprofits and respond on the spot to a situation that needs immediate attention,” Kovach said. “These are moms who have an income and can normally maintain for their family, but hit a temporary road block and need help getting past it.”

The special two-hour evening features retailers and artists and provides unique shopping opportunities and experiences. Guests will create another single painting, under the direction of Brenda Bryant, owner of Paint The Town for a completed piece of art to sell. The artwork will be used for the next edition of 10 Women note cards. Note cards from last year’s painting will be available for purchase.

“We all need hope to look forward and for single parents trying to stay on track, we can do something as a community to help them stay the course,” Kovach said. Participating retailers include Doodlebugz, Paint The Town, Miss Mamie’s Cupcakes, Kathy’s Accessories, Whimsical Nest, Trapp Tischner, Donna’s Classic Accessories, and Lizzards and Lolipopz. Tickets will be available at the door or through one the 10 Women of Hope: Lamuriel Adams, Carla Brown, Patsy Bryan, Wanda Callahan, Angie Davis, Jean Hawkins, Laurel Kovach, Jacki Payne, Fran Sutton and Penny Warren.
