John B. Powell of Woodstock, Georgia, passed away on May 2, 2014.  He was born in Dallas, TX on May 1, 1935.  He is survived by his daughter Cynthia Powell Tuñón and her husband José L. Tuñón of Woodstock; two grandchildren, Sofia Alexis Tuñón and Victoria Noel Tuñón.  Mr. Powell was an airline executive for Pan Am, Braniff, Eastern and Copa Airlines and lived all over Central America and Panama for 18 years, which fostered his love of travel. John loved cheering on his Baylor Bears, spending time with his family, reading a good book, but most of all he loved enjoying a good conversation, which will be missed by all of his friends. A memorial service will be conducted at 1:00 pm on May 12, 2014 at Northside Drive Baptist Church. To honor John B’s love of music, and in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Northside Drive Baptist Church’s organ restoration fund, 3100 Northside Drive NW, Atlanta, GA  30305.
