President Obama went on nation-wide radio recently and addressed "rumors" that illegal aliens would benefit from the proposed health care reform legislation that didn't get passed by his August-break deadline.

"This has been an example of just pure misinformation out there. None of the bills that have been voted on in Congress, and none of the proposals coming out of the White House propose giving coverage to illegal immigrants - none of them," said the president.

The House bill most often quoted is officially titled 'America's Affordable Health Care Act of 2009' (H.R. 3200) - unless it is renamed 'The Dream Lives On Teddy Kennedy Memorial Socialized Medicine Act.'

People who seem to trust the president cite Section 246 of HR 3200, which reads: "Nothing in this subtitle shall allow Federal payments for affordability credits on behalf of individuals who are not lawfully present in the United States."

According to the Federation for American Immigration Reform, Section 246 applies only to "affordability credit" access, but not to anyone enrolling in the public health insurance plan. Affordability credits can be used to offset the cost of health care coverage for individuals who enroll in private insurance plans, but there is no provision barring illegal aliens from enrolling in the taxpayer-funded public option.

Everything would have been much easier for Barrack Obama if the bill had been passed without public inspection as scheduled.

Two amendment attempts to mandate verification of legal immigration status for benefits using existing federal databases by congressional skeptics, Rep. Dean Heller, (R-Nev.) and Nathan Deal (R-GA), were voted down along party lines.

"An unelected bureaucrat would be able to decide who meets the eligibility requirements for publicly funded health care, effectively taking Congress out of the process and allowing the protections we already have under the law to prevent illegals from receiving these types of benefits to be eroded and broken down," says U.S. Rep. Phil Gingrey (R-Marietta).

Other news that no doubt qualifies as more "misinformation" at the White House ministry of truth, hope and change comes from the Congressional Research Service, the research arm for Congress.

According to a recent CRS report, "a Health Insurance Exchange would begin operation in 2013 and would offer private plans alongside a public option ... HR 3200 does not contain any restrictions on noncitizens whether legally or illegally present, or in the United States temporarily or permanently."

Uh-oh.

It's maybe a good thing for these folks that the White House program for people to report damaging and "fishy" information about ObamaCare has been quietly ended, ehh?

The report, released August 25th is titled "Treatment of Noncitizens in H.R. 3200."

The Congressional Research Service was established in 1914 under the name 'Legislative Reference Service' and by an act of Congress adopted its current title in 1970.

A quick look at its Web site explains the mission of this team of nearly 700 employees working in Washington: "The CRS is committed to supporting an informed national legislature - by developing creative approaches to policy analysis, anticipating legislative needs and responding to specific requests from legislators in a timely manner. With a rigorous adherence to our key values, CRS provides analysis that is authoritative, confidential, objective and nonpartisan."

CRS includes "more than 450 policy analysts, attorneys, information professionals and experts in a variety of disciplines - from law, economics and foreign affairs to defense and homeland security, public administration, education, health care, immigration, energy, environmental protection, science and technology."

House Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Lamar Smith (R-Texas) asks a valid question: "If President Obama is committed to ensuring that illegal immigrants do not benefit from the bill - as he says he is - why not include the same verification mechanisms in this bill as already exist for other federal benefits programs?

Indeed.

Most Americans - including this one - think that we can do better on making affordable health insurance available to more people. But from watching "the news," what has become known as the "public option" - and expanding the opportunities for people who were able to escape capture at our borders to access public benefits - doesn't seem to be going over too well.

According to a recent Zogby International poll, President Obama's popularity has dropped to a record low, with just 45 percent of voters now in approval of his performance.

All of the people can't be fooled all of the time.

Obama is a communist who wants to advance the socialist agenda.

The problem here is that much of America is so dense, resentful or busy with American Idol TV that they voted for who the media told them to ...now the same people will defend their vote in the face of the fact that this guy is a total wash-out fraud.

Middle class America; YOU live far too well!

We have the best health care in the world. Obama wants to change that so that we all have the same (lesser) amount of stuff.

This was directed at you RN.

Thank you DA for exposing the truth about ObamaCare/KennedyCare and illegal immigration as a whole. It is time for the American people to stand and take back their country.

We should all be asking what else Comrade Obama has lied about in this and what he will lie about in his amnesty bill.

And why illegals are allowed to be here at all.

To RN- you should pay attention. King writes regularly about illegals getting treatment and our ERs being illegally used as no cost clinics for illegals.

I work in a hospital too. I see the illegals cause wait times for Americans and walk out without a thought of payment.

The point here, dear arrogant, challenged RN is that we should not be forced to increase and further normalize medical treatment for people who should not even be here and are stealing jobs and changing our language.

This column says Obama has said no bill contains wording that would do that. King has shown us that Obama either doesn't know or is "fabeling" - in any case, your reaction is normal: Ignore the facts.

Thanks for the civics lesson RN - most of us know how it is supposed to work. What we don't get is who decides which laws are meant to be enforced. I am guessing if illegals are included in the taxpayer funed Government Option insurance plan, that law will be enforced.

HOORAY D.A.!

To all the uninformed that read the swill written by D A King.

Illegal immigrants already get treated. I know . I work at a hospital. It happens every day. So why now are the uninformed so upset?

There is no final bill yet. The way our democracy works both the House and Senate must agree, this is done in conference, we are not there yet.

The nuts in the Congress will not give up on the Obamacare bill, we should all listen to King and keep up the pressure.

Thank you MDJ - now I can see what I suspected. Half of Congress has lied, the other half hasn't read the healthcare bill.

This would have been a scandal 50 years ago. Now it is just normal politics.

I agree change is really coming in 2010

I couldn't wait to get home from work to write this to the editor; Please keep the information coming from Mr. King if you aren't going to publish it on the front page. My momn is on Medicare and I spend a lot on my hlth ins. - neither of us think Obama is looking out for anyone except the socialist left that wants to take over our nation.

Our health care would get worse under government control!

I will not remain silent any longer. If the press will not expose the fact that illegals can get healthcare from Obamacare, they are helping him.

I believe Mr. King much more than the media or the president - and all of our congressmen.

'The Dream Lives On Teddy Kennedy Memorial Socialized Medicine Act.'

Well said. Also points out that honesty and integity in this fiasco of a bill are not any more important to Obama than they were to Kennedy.

King wites - "House Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Lamar Smith (R-Texas) asks a valid question: "If President Obama is committed to ensuring that illegal immigrants do not benefit from the bill - as he says he is - why not include the same verification mechanisms in this bill as already exist for other federal benefits programs?"

Someone send up a fare if Obama mentions using verification to assure that illegals don't get more taxpayer healthcare coverage than they already do.

Great column

How sad, people below are asking why the truth is seeping out.

Because Obamacare is so awful, it cannot be covered up with the lies anymore.

Illegals are meant to be a part of our lives until there are no borders - either fight that idea now or watch your children grow up in the slimeiness of Mexico and what California is becoming.

If you think this is awful, wait until you see the lies and suppresion of truth coming with Obamamnesty bill.

We went to Congressman Gingrey's townhall meeting lst night, and he didn't bring this up I want to know why. I am very upset that this info from the research service is only coming out now after so many told us illegal immigrants would not be in Obamacare.

I will be asking a lot of questions, starting with Gingrey.

I ask this a lot. Why am I learning about this congressional report from an opinion column ( a good one) and not on the front page of the newspaper?

I am reading the report - King is correct. Illegals can get the public option and we are in deep trouble due to the fact that nearly everyone is keeping the truth from us.

I just read the intro to the CRS report he mentions. It is true what he says and I am livid that the media and the politicians OF BOTH PARTIES have been keeping this from us!

2010 will be bringing a lot more change than some people may think.

After reading all 1200 pages of the bill, there is no section that specifically states only legal residents of the US shall be covered.

There is also a section that states certain procedures shall not be performed on persons who have a limited life expectancy. I read that to mean if you are 65 and need a transplant your chances of getting it are less that that of a 30 yr. old.

Sorry but I have had VA care and its government run, now I use my personal insurance coverage and get compentent care. And don't even start me on the Post Office!!!!

Thanks DA for keeping this very important issue out in the forefront. I believe this is the purpose of national healthcare - to use our tax dollars to fund free healthcare for illegals in order to subsidize the illegal labor force for treasonous employers. The illegals are too visible to us when they flood our emergency rooms and people are making demands to send them home and their employers to jail.
