Actor, comedian sinbad to take Cobb Energy stage

COBB ENERGY CENTRE — Actor and comedian Sinbad will perform Oct. 13 at 8 p.m. at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre. Tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m.

Sinbad is ranked by Comedy Central as one of the top 100 stand-up comedians of all time.

Seussical: the Musical begins Friday in Marietta

MARIETTA — Young Actors Playhouse will present “Suessical: The Musical” starting Friday at 7 p.m. 

The story follows Horton as he tries to protect the Whos in Whoville and later on as he guards an egg.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students. Show times are Saturday at 7 p.m., Sunday at 3 p.m., Aug. 3 and 4 at 7 p.m. and Aug. 5 at 3 p.m.

Collectible glass show, sale at Cobb Civic Center

MARIETTA — The Peach State Depression Glass Club’s 36th annual collectible glass show and sale is Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Cobb Civic Center Hudgins Hall at 548 S. Marietta Parkway.

There will be antique and vintage glass, Depression-era glass, kitchenware and dinnerware on display. The show will feature nationally recognized dealers and special guests. There will also be door prizes, free seminars, free glass identification.

Cost is $8, cash only. Parking is free.

Smyrna teenager wins title in state pageant

SMYRNA — Jordan Lee Meachum, daughter of Daniel and Sonya Meachum of Smyrna, won the title of 2012 National American Miss Georgia Jr. Teen Cover Girl at the state pageant

on July 8. She will attend the national pageant in Anaheim, Calif., in November.
