Mrs. Fannie Alice Cole Nicholson, age 88 of Douglasville, GA passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2013. She was born April 9, 1925, daughter of the late Herbert and Bana Ingram Cole. Mrs. Nicholson was a graduate of Mercer University. She was a teacher in the Douglas County School System for 13 years, before transferring to Cobb County School System, where she retired after 37 years of service. She was a member of the Douglas County Retired Educators Association and was also a member of the Cobb County ‘Old Timers’. Alice was a member of First Methodist Church of Douglasville for 58 years, where she enjoyed volunteering; she was very active in the Douglasville Cultural Arts Center, enjoyed playing bridge and was an avid Braves fan. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, James Clarence Nicholson, Jr. She enjoyed watching ‘Nick’ gardening and they enjoyed travelling together. She was also preceded in death by her brother, James Herbert Cole, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Cole Black and her husband David of Lithia Springs, GA; son, Jim Nicholson and his wife Linda of Canton, GA; grandchildren, Chris Black and his wife Karen, Chad Black and his wife Emily, Taylor Nicholson, Alison Nicholson; great-grandchildren, Daniel Black, Lani Black and Dylan Black. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, July 5, 2013 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be Saturday, July 6, 2013 at 2:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church of Douglasville with Reverend Max Caylor officiating.
