Smyrna Business Association awards scholarships

The Smyrna Business Association awarded scholarships to graduating seniors from Campbell High School and Osborne High School in June. The $1,500 scholarships are awarded to a student who plans to enter the business world upon graduation. The winners are Osborne graduate Charles Logan and Campbell graduate Julian Moore. While at Osborne, Logan graduated with a 3.6 GPA while taking honors and AP classes. He also played varsity baseball all four years and was an active member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Logan plans to attend Albany State University in the fall. At Campbell, Moore took AP courses and completed school with a GPA of 4.0 and was in the top 10 percent of his class. He was a member of the National Honor Society, Beta Club and the Future Business Leaders of America. Moore plans to attend the University of Georgia and get a degree in accounting before pursuing a MBA.

Agents teams up

for education

Floria Izadi, from State Farm Floria Izadi Agency, has teamed up with the Education Committee of Kennesaw Business Association. Izadi and the rest of her colleagues will help improve programs in education with the association.

Izadi has been a State Farm agent providing insurance and financial services in the area since 1990. She is involved in community service, collaborating with Reconnecting Families, a member of Cobb County Chamber of Commerce and the Kennesaw and Acworth Business Associations. She has been a resident of metro Atlanta area since 1975.

Idealease of Atlanta opens new facility in Kennesaw

Idealease, Inc. has opened a new facility at 2689 Barrett Lakes Blvd., in Kennesaw with convenient access just off I-75 and I-575. The location expands the company's breadth of commercial truck lease, rental and dedicated maintenance services in the entire Atlanta metro area as well as the North Georgia market. The new location will also be home to the executive offices of Idealease of Atlanta.

The new 8,000-square-foot Kennesaw facility is situated on 3.1 acres. The service department features wireless vehicle diagnostics and a wash bay with water recycling capabilities.

Honorary Commanders

Association accepting


The Honorary Commanders Association, a cooperative effort involving the Cobb Chamber, Dobbins Air Reserve Base, General Lucius D. Clay National Guard Center, and the Navy and Marine Corps, is seeking nominations for its 2014 Class. The Honorary Commanders Association annually selects community and business leaders and pairs them with military personnel in a yearlong program designed to give leaders an opportunity to learn about military activities, their impact on the economy and the various aspects of the national defense system. Created by the Cobb Chamber in 1983, the association has grown over the years to include units of our nation's Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Air National Guard, Georgia National Guard and Army Guard. Each program event covers a branch of service and includes a behind-the-scenes tour of local and regional military assets. Nominations for this esteemed organization will close Aug. 5. Trampoline park

opens in Kennesaw

Sky Zone Indoor Trampoline Park recently opened a location at 1650 Airport Road NW, Suite 104 in Kennesaw. The 38,500-square-foot park features the longest "open jump" trampoline court in the United States. The park includes three basketball slam-dunk courts; three 3-D dodge ball courts; a private parent's lounge with complimentary Wi-Fi; a food court area and special event rooms. Additional programs include adult three-dimensional cardio and strength training fitness classes, as well as classes for children and toddlers.

The Marketing and Public Relations Department of Emory-Adventist Hospital at Smyrna, at 3949 South Cobb Drive, recently won Gold and Silver Target Awards from the Georgia Society of Healthcare Marketing and Public Relations. The facility's spring issue of its quarterly magazine, Healthy Outlook, won the Gold award. The magazine featured the hospital's Geriatric Fracture Program. The department's "Why Skip a Mammogram" print advertisement won the Silver award.

C.W. Matthews gets contract

Georgia Department of Transportation has awarded a $176 million contract to Marietta-based C.W. Matthews Contracting Co. Inc., to build managed toll lanes along Interstate 75 between State Route 155/McDonough Road and State Route 138/Stockbridge Highway in Henry and Clayton counties. Initial work is likely to begin later this year and the lanes are projected to be open to traffic by the end of 2016.

Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, which has an office at 800 Whitlock Ave. in Marietta, recently announced the launch of Market Watch videos at The videos allow potential homebuyers and sellers to research facts and info on specific counties and cities in Atlanta. Each video incorporates monthly market statistics and provides facts about area sales, prices, inventories and trends across the region.

The productions, which feature animated infographics and professional narration, present market statistics in an entertaining style. Once the Market Watch videos are used visitors can use other site tools to research specific residences.
