Jim Nance of the financial services firm Edward Jones in Acworth Georgia has been authorized by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards to use the certification mark CFP. Nance successfully completed the CFP Board's initial certification requirements, which include completion of financial planning coursework and passing a comprehensive examination.

Exhibit Hall Authority elects new slate of officers
The Cobb-Marietta Coliseum & Exhibit Hall Authority welcomed a new slate of officers at their bi-monthly meeting May 22. They are, Jerry Nix, chairman, Max Bacon, vice chairman, Johnny Gresham, secretary, Michele Swann, general manager and CEO and Moore Ingram Johnson and Steele, Legal Counsel.
The officers serve one-year terms.
Chairman Nix recently retired as Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President of Finance of Genuine Parts Co. He has served on the boards of United Way, Arts for All, Inc., Cobb County YWCA, and the Cobb Chamber of Commerce. He is a previous president and a current member of the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre Foundation, Boy Scouts of America, Genuine Parts Company, John and Mary Franklin Foundation, Synovus Financial Corp. and Young Harris College.
Chairman Nix replaces Earl Smith, who was Chairman of the Authority for 12 years. Smith will continue to be a member of the Authority. His leadership in Cobb County and metro Atlanta spans four decades. Mr. Smith's service to government, business, health, education and the arts has enhanced commerce and quality of life. He is the Founder and Chairman of the Board of E. Smith Heating and Air Conditioning. From 1984 to 1988, he served as Chairman of the Cobb County Board of Commissioners, and he was named Marietta Daily Journal Citizen of the Year in 2001. The historic Earl Smith Strand Theatre on the Marietta Square bears his name, and he is Chair Emeritus of the Friends of the Strand Board of Directors.
Chairman Nix follows a short list of distinguished Chairs of the Authority, including Smith, Barbara E. Williams and John A. Williams.
Other members of the Authority include Tim Lee, Chairman, Cobb County Board of Commissioners; Steve Tumlin, Mayor, City of Marietta; and Robert P. Voyles, CEO, Seven Oaks Company.
The Cobb-Marietta Coliseum and Exhibit Hall Authority is a body corporate and politic created by the General Assembly of Georgia in 1980 to acquire, construct, operate and maintain facilities used for exhibitions, recreation, amusement, and educational purposes. The Authority is the owner and operator of Cobb Galleria Centre, Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre and Galleria Specialty Shops.
