Moore Colson announces four new hires

Moore Colson, 1640 Powers Ferry Road Southeast in Marietta, announced it has hired Lana Yelina, Jackie Fitzgerald, Ada Ding and Scott Oliver to positions within the firm.

Moore Colson is a full-service accounting and consulting firm providing tax assurance, management consulting, estate and financial planning, lender advisory services, IT audit consulting services and corporate accounting services.

Lana Yelina

Yelina was hired as a business assurance senior associate and joins the firm after working with Habif, Arogeti & Wynne LLP in Atlanta, where she was a business valuation analyst. At Habif, she was responsible for appraising businesses, fixed assets, business interests and financial securities of companies valued up to $120 million and specialized in the valuation of companies in the manufacturing, financial services, software/technology and real estate industries. She also developed operational financial models to support merger and acquisition analyses, performed audit reviews, purchase price allocations and valuations of intangible assets.

She was an auditor for three years at Habif as well and assisted with the audits of financial statements for developmental to mid-size companies, worked with privately owned domestic and international companies in the manufacturing, distribution, financial services, software/technology and real estate industries. She also worked as an intern with SunTrust Bank in Fraud Loss Prevention Countermeasures as a fraud/loss prevention risk analyst.

Yelina is a graduate of Georgia Southern University in Statesboro with a Master’s of Accounting and a minor in Fraud Examination. She also attended the Belarusian State College of Music and Art in Minsk, Belarus and received a Bachelor’s in Music. She holds Professional Licenses as a CPA, Certified Valuation Analyst and Certified Fraud Examiner. She is a member of AICPA, the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.

Jackie Fitzgerald

Fitzgerald, with more than nine years management experience across hospitality, retail and accounting services, was hired as a business assurance associate. Prior to joining Moore Colson, she worked with Appalachian Associates, Ltd./Appalachian Heritage Properties in Dahlonega as a comptroller and CIS Manager where she was responsible for managing and evaluating cash flow needs and procedures, periodic operating and capital reports/budgets and supervision of inter-company accounting/audits, property tax analysis and billing analysis.

She is a graduate of Georgia State University’s J. Mack Robinson College of Business in Atlanta with a Master’s in Information Systems Audit and Control and is currently pursuing CPA certification. She also has a bachelor’s of business administration in accounting from the University of North Georgia’s Mike Cottrell School of Business in Dahlonega and minors in Spanish and computer information systems.

Fitzgerald was a an administrative assistant for No One Alone (a domestic violence emergency shelter), a student member of the AICPA, GSCPA, the Institute of Internal Auditors and the Information Systems Audit and Control Association while being actively involved with Beta Alpha Psi as a member and vice president of activities, Omicron Delta Kappa as a member and vice president of Activities and Sigma Delta Pi as a member.

Ada Ding

Ding joins Moore Colson’s Business Assurance Practice as an associate after working with LYRASIS, Inc. in Atlanta as a business development account manager. In this position, she evaluated monthly financial reports with $50 million in revenue and $2 million in margin and presented product performance to senior leadership team. She negotiated and managed more than 50 professional publisher and vendor relationships, covering roughly 500 products, including Thomson-Reuters, LexisNexis and McGraw-Hill. She also independently added 20 new relationships and 100 new products, which brought in $2.5 million new revenue, annually increased existing offers’ margin by three percent upon renegotiations.

She also worked for Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, La., as a website/database librarian, while conducting the University Library website assessment project as the main researcher.

Ding is a graduate of Georgia State University’s J. Mack Robinson College of Business in Atlanta with a Master’s of Professional Accountancy and is a member of the GSU chapter of Beta Alpha Psi. She is CPA eligible and intends to sit for exam beginning in January 2014. She is also a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in Chapel Hill, N.C., with a Master’s in Information Science and the University of Georgia in Athens with a Master of Education. She also obtained a Bachelor of Arts from Beijing Foreign Studies University in Beijing, China.

Scott Oliver

Oliver was hired as a tax associate and is a graduate of Kennesaw State University with a Master’s of Accounting in Tax in July 2013 and Auburn University with a BSBA in Accounting in May 2012.

Prior to joining the firm, he worked for Diaz Foods as an accounts receivable clerk and also an accounting intern.

A member of Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity, Oliver served as their Housing and Social Chair, where he collected money for bills and rent, and organized/budgeted events. He has also reached the 150 hour requirement for the CPA exam.
