Marietta’s Class of ’48 celebrates 65th year reunion at senior center

The Marietta High School Class of 1948 had its 65th Reunion in October at the West Cobb Senior Center. Twenty-two class members attended along with 49 friends and family. The Varsity catered the event with their delicious offerings plus their all time favorite — fried pies. Class members stay in touch through a regular monthly breakfast meeting.

The next Martinis & Music is Friday from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Marietta Cobb Museum of Art in Marietta. The evening features the music of The Whitefield Academy String Quartet.

Walk through the galleries, meet new people and enjoy some fantastic hors d’oeuvres and cash bar. Exhibits include Shadow Circus and The Portrait Society of Atlanta.

The cost is $8 for non-members and members get in free.

Marietta High School Theatre Department presents “A Raisin in the Sun” on Thursday to Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. All performances will be on stage in the new Marietta Performing Arts Center. Tickets are available at or at the box office on the day of the show.


Kennesaw State University’s College of Continuing and Professional Education will have an English as a Second Language open house on Dec. 9 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the KSU Center. The free event is open to the public and will provide in-house grammar tests, allowing guests to improve their English skills, career options or to prepare themselves for college.

Additionally, the open house will provide opportunities to learn about the program and requirements, ask questions, review textbooks and more. The grammar test will help determine where potential students should begin their studies. New students will receive a gift bag and a $20 discount when they register for their first class.
