Marietta SPLOST meeting inconvenient

DEAR EDITOR:

As I read the story in the Saturday morning MDJ paper “Where is everybody?” concerning the SPLOST public meeting at The Marietta City Hall, some thoughts came to mind.

The meeting was from 4 to 6 p.m. This time was convenient for the city workers, but not convenient for others who were working at their place of employment or stuck in traffic. Also during this time, some of us are preparing the evening meal or eating, and it’s important to eat at a reasonable time for health reasons.

A more appropriate time for the SPLOST meeting would be at 7 p.m., which is the time the Marietta City Council meets each month.

I believe the residents of Marietta do care about what the city of Marietta government is doing, and I also believe that having these meetings at 7 p.m. would give more residents a chance to attend them, which is what the residents of Marietta deserve. I hope the Marietta city government agrees.
