Sisters Grace and Libbie Weiner share a love for Marietta, the game of soccer, and the position of goalkeeper. They have a bigger love for the Marietta Blue Devils and recently found out they will each be playing for the Devils this season at their respective Marietta City Schools.

Libbie will be goalkeeper for Marietta Sixth Grade Academy. Grace, a ninth-grader, will be the goalkeeper for the Marietta High School Varsity Team. While Libbie’s MSGA soccer season has not started, the Marietta High School team, led by head Coach Sean Lewis, hosted a scrimmage game against Rome High School on Feb. 7 that resulted in a 2-0 win for the Devils.

Grace and Libbie Weiner are the daughters of Randy and Kelley Weiner of Marietta.

Kick off the Chinese New Year in grand style by joining Kennesaw State University’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute for an evening of food, fun and dancing. The 2014 Winter Social will be at the KSU Center, 3333 Busbee Drive, on Feb. 17 with doors opening at 5:45 p.m.

The 16-piece J.C. Campbell and the Reflections Swing Band will play for the expected 250 attendees.

Dinner will be served from 6 to 7 p.m., followed by entertainment from 7 to 9 p.m. The cost is $10 per person and must be paid in advance by registering online at or calling (770) 423-6765.

On Feb. 27 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., bring your family, friends, and neighbors out to a night of BINGO and Food, Fun and Prizes. The event is sponsored by Harrison Winterguard and Harrison High School Marching Band and will be held at Harrison High School Cafeteria, 4500 Due West Road, Kennesaw.

The cost is $5 for entry and card, with $3 for additional bingo cards and $5 special bingo prize cards. Prizes will include spa treatments, golf packages, prom items, dinner and movie night packages — something for everyone.

Save the date for the popular Glory in Garden event benefiting the Marietta Educational Garden Center. The outdoor concert is April 26 featuring dance band The Neons. The event is always a sellout. For more information, call MEGC at (770) 427-3494 or email
