ACWORTH – A 55-year-old man drowned Sunday while paddle boarding in Lake Acworth, police reported.

Acworth police officers responded to South Shore Park, a 30-acre park on Ragsdale Road, at around 1:40 p.m. in reference to a report than an adult male had possibly drowned. Bystanders gave them an approximate location where he went under water while using a paddle board.

The body of the man was located and recovered by Cobb Fire Department personnel about 30 minutes after the victim was seen going under water, said Acworth Police Chief Wayne Dennard
