Jamaal Dontray Taylor, 19, was arrested Dec. 14 and charged with felony theft by receiving and misdemeanor theft by deception and possession of marijuana, less than one ounce.
According to the warrant, Taylor sold the ring to a gold buyer sometime between Nov. 2 and Nov. 10 for $144.
He sold the “property as his own and signing a receipt stating that he was the rightful owner of said property and received cash in return,” the warrant states.
In addition to these charges, Taylor is accused of having three grams of marijuana in his jacket pocket when he was arrested.
Officer Mike Bowman with Cobb Police said Moore’s mother reported the stolen ring sometime in early December.
Moore was reportedly out of the country at that time.
“It was stolen from Moore’s front door after it was delivered by a courier,” Bowman said, adding that she has a Smyrna address.
Police are not sure whether Taylor stole the ring from the front door steps of Moore’s home.
Bowman said the case is still under investigation.
