James Walls Poppe of Austell removed an electronic meter from his home after his power service was disconnected for unpaid bills, according to police.

Cobb County police arrested Poppe and say he replaced the meter with another one that belonged to Greystone Power Corporation hoping to restore his electric service.

The second meter was stolen from a vacant home in his neighborhood, according to an arrest warrant.

Poppe is charged with misdemeanor interfering with public utilities and misdemeanor theft.
