Jim Unites Goshay Jr. has been charged with felony theft after police say he embezzled $43,916 from the McEver Woods Subdivision Homeowners Association in Acworth.

Goshay became the treasurer of the HOA on Feb. 15, 2013, and is accused of beginning to siphon funds just seven days later.

Police say he used the money for hotels, a banquet hall rental and to buy new tires for his vehicle. Goshay also is accused of writing checks to himself and making withdrawals from the HOA’s account with Bank of America.

On Sept. 23, 2012, a deposit of $11,000 was made into the HOA’s account, according to the arrest warrant. Another $10,000 was deposited Oct. 4, the warrant states, and a third deposit from Goshay put $23,000 into the HOA’s account.

This story needs editing.

He became treasurer on 2/15/2013, and is accused of depositing money INTO the HOA's account during the previous year? Huh?
