MARIETTA —Richard Eugene Ferry of Marietta was arrested Aug. 28 on charges of aggravated assault. He was released the next day from the Cobb County jail on a $25,000 bond.

According to the warrant, Ferry assaulted a nurse at WellStar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta while she was trying to treat him.

“(Ferry) became combative and began charging at staff members while swinging his heart monitor in an attempt to strike them,” the warrant states. “(Ferry) then jumped on top of the (nurse), pinning her on her stomach, and repeatedly struck her on the face, head, neck and back with the heart monitor.”

Other hospital staff had to pull Ferry off of the woman, who reportedly suffered bruising, swelling and trauma on her neck and back due to the alleged attack.
