A Smyrna man is accused of assaulting a woman in front of two children.

Elijah Johnson reportedly pushed the woman down on the ground during an argument in the presence of a 3-month-old and a 6-year-old. After police arrived at the scene of the crime, Johnson spit on a police officer and attempted to bash his head into another police officer’s head, according to the arrest warrant.

Johnson was arrested by the Smyrna Police Department on July 23 and jailed on a $10,000 bond. He was charged with two counts of simple battery, two counts of cruelty to children, and obstruction, all misdemeanors except the obstruction charge.
