DEAR EDITOR:

Reference to the WellStar pedestrian bridge, it’s gonna happen. Let’s make it beautify Marietta.

WellStar could hire a local architect who is familiar with the historic features of the area. Let the bridge depict a historic structure, possibly a railroad bridge or something that would fit into ‘historic Marietta.’

Second, let’s compromise, maybe WellStar would agree to beautiful Church Street as well, with pavers in the street and lots of landscaping around wide paved sidewalks. Let the location become an entryway into Historic Marietta that all us residents would be proud of. Even have an historic looking sign, “Marietta — established 1864” on the bridge over Church Street so visitors entering Marietta from the expressways know exactly where they are.

If it’s going to happen, let’s make it work for the residents of Marietta. Marietta is historic, so let’s keep its charm.
