The public is invited to address the board in the district’s board room at 250 Howard St. in Marietta at 5:30 p.m. The board will cast its vote on whether to reduce the millage rate from 19.157 mills to 18.682 mills at 6 p.m.
The .475 reduction will be implemented in light of voters countywide approving SPLOST IV in March, which allows the city school district to pay off the $7 million, five-year-auditorium bond for Marietta High School.
The reduction could save the owner of a $100,000 home $17 per year; $200,000, $36; and $300,000, $55.
A second reduction in the millage of .712 mills is anticipated for 2014.
