Jay Sims Maddox died on April 27, 2013 at the age of 73. He was born in Atlanta, GA on October 16, 1939 and attended Northside High School and the University of Georgia. He was a developer and investor in real estate. He and his family moved to Marietta, GA in the 1980’s and built the Sims House in 1992, which has helped many people with different needs. Sims was a member of Mt. View United Methodist Church where he worked in missions and was a Stephen Minister. Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Susan Steinbruegge Maddox; sons, Jay Maddox, Jr.; Wesley Maddox and his wife Jennifer; and John Maddox; daughters, Susan Rollins and Janet Maddox; brother Cone Maddox, III; sister, Dr. Dorothy Owens; 9 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to either: The Sims House, C/O Susan S. Maddox, 4487 Trickum Road, Marietta, GA 30066 or Mountain View United Methodist Church, “BENEVOLENCE FUND”, 2300 Jamerson Road, Marietta, GA. 30066.
