Lee’s transportation study just money grab

DEAR EDITOR:

Sunday’s MDJ article stated that Cobb Chairman Tim Lee wishes to spend an additional $368,000, or 53 cents from every man, woman and child in our county. He says he needs it to expand a $1.4 million transportation study by Dutch Engineering to find out what kind of improvements citizens think they need and how they would pay for them.

Of course, it’s clear that the primary reason to quickly snatch-andgrab 53 cents from every Cobb citizen’s pocket or purse is for Cobb to remain in compliance to receive aid from federal and state tax dollars through grants.

Can anyone explain exactly how using our federal and state tax dollars, which we already pay, via grants combined with all their regulations and restrictions, conclusively and ultimately save Cobb citizens’ tax dollars? I have my doubts about the bottom line.

According to the MDJ, Lee said that he felt spending $368,000, and effectively requiring every Cobb citizen to fork out 53 cents, was a better way to go about it.

Tim, please give me a call. You can get my opinion and save me 53 cents. As a matter of fact, I’ll save you the call. In my estimation, you should dismiss wasting $368,000 of the county’s funds and our tax dollars.

So Lee is doing what is needed to remain in compliance to receive US and GA grants. So, it isn't about Lee then, is it?
