Nysia Tabb Lanier, 78, passed away on June 7, 2014. She was a loving wife, mom and grandmother. Nysia was the daughter of Pauline L. and Robert Bryon Tabb of Leary, Georgia. Born July 25, 1935, Nysia has been a resident of Cobb County for over 50 years. She is survived by her husband, Hugh L. Lanier, Daughters Paula L. Byrd (Andy) and Cheree L. Curtis (Henry), grandchildren Sara E. Posey, Robert Posey, TJ Byrd and Brandon Byrd. Great grandchildren, Isabella Posey and Robert Posey, Jr., brothers Michael B. Tabb (Karin) and Thomas A. Tabb (deceased); as well as many nieces and nephews. Nysia was a member of the North Peachtree Baptist Church and retired from Wachovia Bank after 22 years as a Financial and Business Administrator. She has been as active member, as well as holding many positions in the Cobb County Senior Services, Georgia Artists with Disabilities, Atlanta Regional Commission Advisory Committee on Aging, American Business Women’s Association, Atlanta Area Council of American Business Women, Pilot Club of Marietta, as well as a volunteer for Cobb County Elections. She was a winner of the 2012 Martha Eaves Advocating for Positive Change-Atlanta Region as well as the 2004 Community Leader of the Year for Cobb County. She has held positions on the Senior Citizen Council of Cobb County and began the Senior Citizen Council “Cobb Senior Idol” in 2005 which has become an annual tradition. She has served on the Senior Housing Task Force and been a part of the Cobb Senior Services Board of Advisors. Arrangements have been made at H.M. Patterson and Son Canton Hill Chapel in Marietta with a visitation from 5 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, June 10th and a Funeral Service on Wednesday, June 11 at 1 PM. Burial will immediately follow at Kennesaw Memorial Park. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Georgia Artists with Disabilities, Inc., P.O.
