JONES, Anne Gaughan
Anne Gaughan Jones, born June 21, 1927 was relieved of her suffering and went to heaven May 23, 2013. Her family, whom she lovingly coached and directed, was the most important part of her life. Mom was never without an opinion. She was vocal about what she considered to be the cornerstones of her life: her faith, her Irish heritage and the Democratic Party. She lived her life with an open heart that allowed her to be accepting of all people. Mom and Dad moved from Columbiana, Ohio in 1994. However, Columbiana remained the most important place in her life. When visiting her hometown, her “visit card” was always full. She loved her friends and treasured these life-long relationships. Dad and Mom were owners of Gaughn’s which had been owned by her father (Daniel James Gaughan) and mother (Florence Gregory). She loved dancing with Dad throughout their marriage and they always made sure we had music playing in our home. She loved entertaining friends and always encouraged laughter and fun. She was committed to sharing with her girls, her thoughts about the “right way” to go through life. These thoughts have been proven to be the best lessons we ever learned. Mom was a strong woman. She taught us that as women we should standup for our rights and to never take second place. She reminded us that having grace and compassion are essential in living a full and productive life. We are blessed to have had her as our mother and role mode. Mom was a proud graduate of Villa Maria High School and one of the founding members of St. Jude Catholic Church in Columbiana, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jack, whom she married September 20, 1947 and her beautiful daughter, Karen Anne Wiley. The remaining family to carry on her legacy are Jayne (Bob) Duncan, Marietta, Georgia; Kassie Jones, Geneva, Illinois; Shannon Jones (Anne Weber), Cincinnati, Ohio; Dave and Tiffany Wiley, New Smyrna Beach, Florida, and David Wiley (Miryam Fragoso), Miami, Florida. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations go to Wellstar Hospice, 677 Church Street, Marietta Georgia 30060 (good cause.com) or Living Well Cancer Center, 432 Williamsburg Avenue, Geneva, Illinois 60134 (livingwellcrc.org). On July 28, 2013 at 7:00 p.m., an Irish Memorial Service will be held at Pinetree CountryClub, Kennesaw, Georgia. A Memorial Service to celebrate her life was held on June 22, 2013 at St. Jude Church, Columbiana, Ohio.
