Is MDJ columnist Foley kin to Bill Press?

DEAR EDITOR:

Silly I suppose, but I want to ask, is MDJ columnist Kevin Foley somehow closely kin to Bill Press?

Comedian Jerry Clower, now departed, had a saying that went something like this: “He is educated beyond his intelligence.” One can be an intellectually OK person while remaining sadly lacking in common sense — meaning in this case one who is spoon fed by academia and never matures to a point of ever thinking for himself.

May Heaven help us in November.

Jim Caldwell

"spoon fed by academia" huh? classic anti-intellectual drivel. It's ok to learn how to read books with words.

Is Foley related to Bill Press?

A reasonable question, I guess!

But he's not quite as smart

And has an even meaner heart

For to get him to tell the truth

Is as hard as extracting a tooth.

And I guess I don't pass his bar

By telling him "whoever you are!"

I guess, so I don't turn to drink

I'll ignore whatever he may think

It's best to not read what he writes

It will keep you up nights---

I'll not take time to ponder

Of what he does maunder

The truth he does mangle

with his liberal angle!

So, a bas with Kevin Foley

Not partially but wholly

The man is a phoney

And talks but baloney!

Who is Kevin Foley? I've never heard of him. Seriously, does he write for a paper?

Foley is the thrift shop version of Press.

Only an anachronism like Mr. Foley would see espousing the wonders of socialism -- the failures of which have been documented for several generations now due to the inability of socialism to mesh with innate human nature, and its desire for freedom -- as a "progressive" concept.

Make no mistake about it, Mr. Foley. You are a socialist, and there is absolutely nothing progressive about socialism. This is why comment writers here dislike your opinions and those of Mr. Press.

@ Evan Thomas - I'm a socialist? My 2011 tax return sure says I'm a capitalist!

Thank you for the (unitended?) compliment, Mr. Caldwell. I'm a fan of Mr. Press.

Why is it conservatives have such a hard time looking in the mirror we progressives hold up for them?

My question is why are we (the readers of this newspaper) inflicted with so many columnists who are, well, lacking in rational thinking? I am not against free speech, but at least it seems like some intelligent liberals could be found.

Intelligent liberal is an oxymoron.

Not wanting to take a page from the liberal's playbook, I won't comment on Foley's appearance or personality characteristics. Let me however say that his logic is completely flawed, his columns appear about three weeks after they might be timely and not only that, he seems not to be a likeable person.

His columns most often seem to be personal attacks on republicans, and he's unable to back them up with actual facts. So yeah, he's Bill Press II. Just what we need around here to remind us we MUST stay engaged and vote in November.

Fooley and Press are joined at the hip --- in the sense they both take nearly the entire core of their columns directly from Huffington Post.

Both authors make for great comedy, and as a bonus, they give new meaning to the word 'delusional'.

For a humorous look into what a fantasy world devoid of fact actually looks like, I encourage you to read their columns weekly.
